Continuity Corrected Wilson Interval for the Difference of Two Independent Proportions

چکیده

Abstract Confidence interval for the difference of two proportions has been studied decades. Many methods were developed to improve approximation limiting distribution test statistics, such as profile likelihood method, score and Wilson method. For by Beal (Biometrics 43:941, 1987), Z statistic standard normal may be further improved utilizing continuity correction, in observation anti-conservative intervals from interval. We theoretically prove that is nested corrected under mild conditions. compare with commonly used regards coverage probability, width, mean squared error probability. The proposed good performance many configurations. An example a Phase II cancer trial illustrate application these methods.

Unconditional Confidence Interval for the Difference between Two Proportions

In applied statistics it is customary to have to obtain a oneor two-tail confidence interval for the difference d 1⁄4 p2 p1 between two independent binomial proportions. Traditionally, one is looking for a classic and non-symmetric interval (with respect to zero) of the type d 2 [dL; dU ], d d0 or d d0. However, in clinical trials, equivalence studies, vaccination efficacy studies, etc., and ev...

Interval estimation for the difference between independent proportions: comparison of eleven methods.

Several existing unconditional methods for setting confidence intervals for the difference between binomial proportions are evaluated. Computationally simpler methods are prone to a variety of aberrations and poor coverage properties. The closely interrelated methods of Mee and Miettinen and Nurminen perform well but require a computer program. Two new approaches which also avoid aberrations ar...

On Construction of the Smallest One-sided Confidence Interval for the Difference of Two Proportions

BY WEIZHEN WANG1 For any class of one-sided 1 − α confidence intervals with a certain monotonicity ordering on the random confidence limit, the smallest interval, in the sense of the set inclusion for the difference of two proportions of two independent binomial random variables, is constructed based on a direct analysis of coverage probability function. A special ordering on the confidence lim...

A non-iterative accurate asymptotic confidence interval for the difference between two proportions.

I propose a new confidence interval for the difference between two binomial probabilities that requires only the solution of a quadratic equation. The procedure is based one estimating the variance of the observed difference at the boundaries of the confidence interval, and uses least squares estimation rather than maximum likelihood as previously suggested. The proposed procedure is non-iterat...

Small-sample comparisons of confidence intervals for the difference of two independent binomial proportions

This paper compares the exact small-sample achieved coverage and expected lengths of fivemethods for computing the confidence interval of the difference of two independent binomial proportions. We strongly recommend that one of these be used in practice. The first method we compare is an asymptotic method based on the score statistic (AS) as proposed by Miettinen and Nurminen [1985. Comparative ...
